Horticultural Export Improvement Association (HEIA)

 

OBJECTIVE

  • Increase exports of fresh and processed produce through continuous improvement of quality production, marketing, policy advocacy, training and management to assure Egypt’s international quality and raise the agricultural labor force standards for a sustainable national economy.

 

SERVICES

  • Provide export support services.
  • Identify market opportunities, regulations, and constraints.
  • Collect potential buyer information and product standards, and conduct matchmaking activities.
  • Assist members to apply the most up-to-date practices to produce safe foods.
  • Provide guidance and training for cost effective transportation.
  • Develop testing/research methodologies for adaptation trials on member farms, solve production and post-harvest problems, using consultants as needed.
  • Share technologies and practices to improve export quality and competitiveness.
  • Provide institutional services.
  • Advocate for government officials to take corrective action or develop new policies and regulations to improve horticultural industry development.
  • Encourage, facilitate and coordinate contacts and free flow of information between HEIA members and other agricultural subsectors.
  • Apply quality management principles or techniques to improve HEIA’s performance and staff skills to serve as an example for member firms.
  • Enhance social development for the horticultural labor community.
  • Identify, plan and implement training activities including gender-related work performance, work and product safety and living standards.
